I didn't really know what to expect from this series of books. Hadn't really heard about it until the movie was coming out and there seemed to be some controversy due to it's supposed anti-religious nature.

Well, that was enough to pique my interests, so away I went. And I'm very happy I did. Great story, a real page turner. No way is this a 'kiddies' book as some seem to say. My 16 year old son read the series and wrote a school report on it. His teacher wondered if it wasn't to young for him. She obviously doesn't know anything about it.

I can't speak to the supposed anti-christian, or specifically anti-catholic theme that some people accuse the book of. It's fiction, set in a fictional world that is similar to ours but different. It's trying to speak against using religion to control and suppress freedom. Then again, as an atheist, maybe I just see things differently than others Razz
