This is a mostly pretty good series of books. I prefer the NG line because i like the characters as introduced by the TV show much more than the others.
The really nice part about the Star Trek: Next Generation books is that many of them are actually written by staff writers, etc from the TV show itself.

I haven't read much ST fiction, other than one book whose name escapes me ETA - the name came back - Star Trek Invasion - a series of four novels (I bought them as one combined book) that tied together characters from all series as it hopped across time and space.
But I agree that TNG was the best of the trek series with the most interesting characters. As an adult, especially one with a military background, I found TOS to be somewhat cartoonish and rediculous in having the Captain and other senior officers be the first people down on a strange planet.
I might have to check out some of these books. |
