This is a series written by Robert Adams.
It's a bit sci-fi as well as fantasy and fits my tastes as it's something that, barring the fantasy part is almost possible.
Everything takes place after a future apocalypse.
The main character, Milo Morai, becomes what will be known as one of "The Undying" and is nearly impossible to kill.
That's some of the fantasy part.
The storyline leads you to believe he ages incredibly slow and has remarkable healing powers.
He lived during our present time and lived through the apocalypse and you're lead to believe it was a nuclear war that devastated earth.
Years later, the children of whoever lived are led by him and he being determined that the past is not repeated, he doesn't educate anyone beyond the iron age.
The storyline begins in the fist novel as the majority being nomads who hunt and make war with steel tipped arrows, spears as well as swords and progresses to knights in armor.
There's a bit of telepathy thrown in, lots of narrow escapes, romance, drama, crime and even some pirates on schooners for good measure.
I had nearly the entire series when he quit writing for some reason.
I looked the author up in the Library of Congress maybe 10 years ago and the first Novel of his Horseclan series was valued at $100.00 U.S. |
